On June, 23, 2021 the City of Houston Ordinance 2021-515 passed by City Council approved a revenue increase in water rates of 78% through 2026.
The very first rate change went into effect on September 1, 2021. With the most recent increase going into effect on on April 1, 2022. Since 2021, Houstonians have seen an increase of up to 36% with this only being the beginning increases that will happen over the next couple of years.
